Best of all - you'll learn from a live superhero: an expert in their field who guides you on your journey to becoming a hero yourself.

TAG students are academically and intellectually gifted learners who typically need move faster and delve deeper into the learning environment.

This year, we’ve redesigned the structure of TAG Challenge Camp so students can sign up for topics they’re most curious about while also giving them additional opportunities to learn about topics and career fields they may be less familiar with.

In each discipline track, students receive two classes in the area they select and one additional class from a different focus. In this way, students have a unique opportunity to stretch their intellectual muscles and learn more about the things they love and discover things they didn’t know they were interested in!

Additionally, we have lots of opportunities for team- and friendship-building throughout the camp experience. From beginning the day with guided small-group breakout sessions designed to stimulate the mind to ending the day with fun physical activity, we’ve covered it all.

At the end of TAG Challenge Camp, all campers have a chance to see what others have done and show off what they’ve learned, either by talking with others or displaying their amazing creations. Follow your curiosity with us!

TAG Challenge Camp is for Talented and Gifted-identified students. Portland Public Schools defines TAG students as follows:·

A group of students who demonstrate exceptional ability in a particular learning area.
Those who have scored between the 97th and 99th percentile, meaning they are performing at the highest level in comparison to their peers.

If you are interested in TAG Challenge Camp but have not been identified as a TAG student in your school, you can self-select into the camp. To do so, please review the following criteria to determine if this learning opportunity is appropriate for you.

Do you:·

Typically learn at a much faster rate than your peers?
Score in the 97th percentile and above in school subjects?
Crave advanced, challenging learning opportunities above your grade level?

If you answered yes to the above criteria, you may self-select into the camp.

Please note that TAG Challenge Camp is a fun yet rigorous and intellectually challenging learning opportunity. If you are not TAG-identified and enroll in the camp and subsequently decide it is not the right opportunity for you after the camp has started, no refund will be issued.
