Lauren Miranda is serving as an AmeriCorps VISTA for Saturday Academy as the Outreach & Volunteer Coordinator. Having just graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies from California State University Long Beach, her passion and desire to serve nation and community has lead her into an array of opportunities. Lauren has found her interest in education through opportunities like teaching and aiding in New Orleans, interning for a non-profit arts education program in southern California, peer-mentoring for the Communication Studies department on her campus and holding a leadership position as Vice-President of Education as a member of Speak Out Toastmasters. As she gains more insight, knowledge, and experience during her year-of-service, Lauren will equip herself with the skills to go back to school and earn her masters…unsure of what degree to pursue…she will just have to follow her curiosity! Lauren has lived in southern California, San Francisco, and now Vancouver-you can find her running, playing soccer and exploring all that the Pacific Northwest has to offer.
