In the 90’s, Zach participated in a since partitioned branch of Saturday Academy in his hometown of Corvallis, OR. Though he had a lot of fun in each of his SA classes there, he discovered he did not possess the patience for archaeology, the mathematical fascination for chemistry or the stomach for veterinary medicine. Without Saturday Academy, he may have gone on to become the world’s most squeamish veterinarian. Instead he got his BA in English with a minor in education. At SA he works to make sure our instructors are fully prepared for their classes and he replenishes the exotic supplies and equipment used to provide the hands-on SA experience. In his free-time he also teaches darkroom photography and writing classes for the SA students who, like him, are viscerally averse to stoichiometry and horse necropsy.
